Texas Tech to host regional as No. 8 nationwide seed, face Military

Texas Tech's Jace Jung celebrates with a teammate after hitting a two-run home run in the second inning during a Big 12 Conference game Friday, May 21, 2021, against Kansas at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.

A day after learning they’d host an NCAA regional for the fifth straight time, the Texas Tech baseball found out their seed in the national tournament.

The Red Raiders were tabbed a No. 8 national seed, meaning they will host a regional and, if they advance, a Super Regional at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.

Texas Tech (36-15) is scheduled to take on Army (28-23) in its first contest of the best of three Lubbock regional at 11 a.m. Friday and be televised on ESPNU and streamed online on the ESPN app.

The other contest pits North Carolina (27-25) and UCLA (35-18) at 6 p.m. Friday, which will also be broadcast on ESPNU with the winner of the regional taking on the victor in the Stanford regional.
