Keefe Tech commencement dyslexia Massachusetts school of artwork & design

FRAMINGHAM — Stacy Santos refuses to be defined by her disability. She’s a soon-to-be graduate of Joseph Keefe Technical High School.

Santos, 18, graduates with the rest of the Class of 2021 at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Warren Conference Center in Ashland.

“I overcame a disability,” Santos said, one that put a thought in her mind when she was younger that “I really didn’t think graduation was part of my future.”

Stacy Santos, 18, overcame dyslexia and will graduate Thursday from Joseph Keefe Technical High School in Framingham.

Santos was diagnosed with dyslexia about 10 years ago. The disorder makes reading difficult due to problems identifying speech sounds, and learning how they relate to letters and words.

There is no cure.

Winning combination

With a mixture of determination and loving support from her mother, Santos progressed from a youngster who doubted her abilities to one who values her academic and artistic strengths.
